About

The licensing path, assembled

State licensing pages are written for people who already know which document they need. This site is for the person starting from zero.

What this is

A state-by-state reference for opening a licensed home child care program. Five states: Texas, California, Florida, Illinois and Georgia. For each one, the site sets out the permit types, the ordered steps, the forms, the fees, the background checks, the training hours, the space and ratio rules, the inspection, and the renewal cycle.

Each state page ends with a document checklist and a printable packet. The packet is sized for US Letter paper and covers the steps, the documents, the fees, the forms and the contacts.

Who it is for

Someone opening a family child care home, an existing provider moving states, and a provider preparing for renewal. It is written for a person with a browser and a printer, not for a lawyer or a licensing consultant.

What this is not

How the research is done

Each pack starts from the licensing agency page and the rule, statute or handbook it cites. Numbers are quoted with the exact source, and every section carries the source chips it depends on. Sources are fetched on the date stamped on the page.

Where a rule could not be confirmed, it is listed under “Not verified here” instead of being guessed. California’s missing per-child square footage standard and Florida’s small-home space rule are two examples. That list is part of the product, not an apology for it.

All five packs currently verify against sources read on 21 October 2026.

Source code

The site is a static Astro build. The repository isgithub.com/pantha704/daycarelicense-mini-saas. It contains the typed state data, the build, the tests and the source notes.
